I chose to research Indian foods. I thought about this because I have never done a research project on food. I generally like food as a topic because there are a lot of things that you can learn from the food that a person eats. You can learn about their culture, their style and their taste. Food is not just nourishment; it describes a part of civilization.
I learned a few things about Indian food. I learned the recipe for Tandoori Murgh and I learned the recipe for Murgh Masalam. I also learned a few words that are Indian food terms. I learned that a tandoor is an Indian clay oven and that naan is a type of Indian bread. I also learned that the term chapattis is another kind of bread. Although a lot of the Indian dishes that you see today include meat, most Indians were vegetarians at about 300 B.C. It is kind of hard to believe, but it is true.
I have a page in my project that is a whole page about websites that I visited. For each source, there is about a paragraph explaining what they are like and why they are either good or bad. I cannot remember all of them because there were a lot but some of the websites were: http://www.historyforkids.org/learn/india/food/ , and http://www.sanjeevkapoor.com/ .
If you are a reader reading my report on India, I want the reader to come off with an idea of what kind of foods are in India. There are visuals of the foods along with a little background of the food and the recipe for making the dish. This Indian project has not taught me a lot about India, only about some of its foods so I cannot compare cultures very well. In the food area, America and India are kind of the same. We both have our own names or terms for different cooking ingredients and we both have foods that our countries are famous for. For each culture, there is always a little bit of history behind the foods.
